Jake Sandler

I'm a software engineer and photographer based in Boca Raton, Florida.

I spent twelve years at Johns Hopkins APL. I started out building and reworking space-flight electronics, became the lab's subject-matter expert on automated optical inspection, and went on to write the software used to review that inspection data.

Much of that work involved images: aligning them, focusing them, reconstructing them from CT scans and reading text in them. That background informs both my photography and my software.

I photograph CrossFit gyms and competitions, events, headshots and travel. I also write tools to support that work, including a photo culler, a model trained on my edit history and a pipeline for editing slow-motion video.

I'm looking for my next engineering role in applied AI, computer vision or Python, either remote or on-site near Boca Raton.
